Crawlspace

Crawl Space Radon Reduction

If the property that the radon mitigation system is installed contains a crawlspace, the crawlspace area must be encapsulated in order to reduce the radon levels.  A high density 6-mill polyethylene sheet is laid on the soil. The seams are sealed, and the edges are sealed to the foundation walls. A perforated pipe or drain mat may be placed beneath the plastic. This pipe is typically connected to solid PVC piping and fan, which creates a vacuum beneath the plastic. This effectively collects the radon and exhausts it to a safe location outside.

Crawlspace Encapsulation

Common symptoms of a crawl space moisture problem are:

  • Mold, mildew or moisture in the crawl space or living area
  • Condensation on ductwork and/or rusting ductwork
  • Condensation on insulation and floor joists in the crawl space
  • Musty odors in the living area
  • Insect infestations
  • Rot in wooden framing members

.

Our Crawlspace Encapsulation System

  • Controls mold, mildew and moisture.
  • Improves indoor air quality throughout the entire home.
  • Seals radon gas entry from the crawl when sealed to walls
  • Reduces allergens such as mold and dust mites
  • Helps control spiders, termites and other insects.
  • Creates a clean, dry area.
  • Helps increase property value

We Install Automatic Foundation Vents
The non-powered, Automatic Foundation Vent will open and close automatically using a heat/cold sensitive coil. The louvers open completely at approximately 72°F and completely close at approximately 38°F. Unlike manual vents that can waste energy when no one remembers to open or close them, these vents self-adjust all year long.

The crawlspace foundation is critical to the integrity of the home.

That’s why foundation ventilation is critical. Unventilated foundations are subject to built-up moisture that can eventually lead to costly damage.
